ResourceSummary of Services
Dean of StudentsThe Dean of Students supports campus involvement by helping students lead, join and manage registered student organizations — including multicultural, academic, service, recreational, governance and special-interest groups. It offers leadership development, event support, funding guidance, space reservations and resources to strengthen student engagement and enhance personal growth outside the classroom.
Testing and Evaluation ServicesTesting and Evaluation Services (TES) at UT Austin provides centralized support for campus testing and instructional improvement. TES administers a wide range of exams (including placement, credit by exam, make up, and national tests), offers secure proctoring environments, and collaborates with campus units to ensure accessible testing arrangements in coordination with Disability & Access. TES also supports teaching by managing course instructor surveys and other evaluation tools, giving instructors and departments data they can use to enhance courses and programs. In short, TES is a key resource for students and instructors whenever testing, proctoring, or course evaluation needs arise.
Graduate Admission ExamsGraduate Admission Exams: UT Austin’s Testing and Evaluation Services (TES) serves as an on-campus testing center for many graduate and professional admission exams. TES administers computer based tests such as the GRE, GMAT, and other graduate admission assessments in a secure, proctored environment that meets national testing standards. Students and community members can schedule exams through the appropriate testing agency and select UT Austin as their test site, gaining convenient, centrally located access to the exams required for graduate and professional school applications.
The University Writing CenterThe University Writing Center, located in the Perry‑Castañeda Library (PCL), is a free resource for all UT Austin graduate students from any discipline. Trained consultants work one‑on‑one with writers at any stage of the process, from understanding an assignment and brainstorming ideas to drafting, revising, and polishing final papers, personal statements, theses, and dissertations. The Center emphasizes collaboration rather than correction, helping students develop stronger, more confident writing habits they can carry into future courses and professional work.
Graduate Student Writing ServicesOffers one-on one consultations for graduate-level projects: seminar papers, literature reviews, articles, theses, and dissertations. Supports every stage of the writing process from ideas development and organization to revising for clarity, style, argument. Helps with professional documents such as CVs, cover letters, statements, and grant applications. Provides graduate-focused workshops and recurring appointments for long term projects.Writing groups, retreats, and one-one writing support
Sanger Learning CenterSanger Learning Center is UT Austin’s main hub for academic support. Graduate students and postdocs can strengthen study, time management, and test-taking strategies through one-on-one appointments and workshops. They can access tutoring and review sessions in select subjects. In addition, they can get coaching on balancing coursework, research, and teaching responsibilities.
LibrariesUT Libraries provide the research backbone for graduate and postdoctoral work. They offer: Access to extensive print and online collections (journals, databases, datasets, special collections).
Graduate Study SpacesUT Libraries graduate study spaces give grad students and postdocs quiet, dedicated environments for focused work. They offer: Restricted-access carrels, reading rooms, and lockers for long-term projects. Power Wi-Fi, and nearby printers/scan stations. 
Subject LibrariansUT Austin’s subject librarians are specialists assigned to each department who support graduate and postdoc research who provide one-on-one research consultations and tailored research guides. They help develop search strategies and navigate discipline-specific databases. Assist with literature reviews, citation management, and locating hard-to-find materials.
Graduate LifeGraduate School supports graduate students and postdocs from admission to graduation and beyond. It oversees degree requirements, academic policies, and milestones (advancement to candidacy, defenses, graduation). Offering funding and professional development resources, including fellowships, travel awards, workshops, and mentoring programs. In addition, it provides support for teaching, research, writing, and career planning in collaboration with campus partners
Degrees & ProgramsDegrees & Programs provides a comprehensive directory of graduate degree options offered at The University of Texas at Austin. The page allows prospective and current students to explore individual programs, including application deadlines, program contacts, and links to detailed information about each field of study. UT Austin offers more than 230 graduate programs across its colleges and schools, including master’s, doctoral, and dual-degree programs in a wide range of academic disciplines.
Statistical CounselingFree Statistical Consulting provides UT Austin students, faculty, and staff with guidance on statistical questions related to research projects. Through brief consultations with faculty or trained consultants, researchers can receive support with study design, survey design, power and sample-size calculations, data management, statistical methods, and interpretation of results. The service is intended to assist researchers in making informed methodological decisions rather than conducting analyses on their behalf.
Find A SpaceThe “Find a Space” page – Student Organizations, Office of the Dean of Students at The University of Texas at Austin helps registered student organizations and other campus units locate and choose appropriate indoor or outdoor venues for meetings and events. It provides tools and information to search by capacity and features so groups can reserve spaces that best meet their needs for gatherings, presentations, and activities

Career Success Career Success provides campus-wide career development resources that help UT Austin students and postdoctoral scholars explore career paths, build professional skills, and connect with employers. Services include career coaching, workshops, career fairs, job and internship postings, experiential learning opportunities, and online tools that support career planning and job searches. The office also collaborates with career centers across UT’s colleges and schools to provide specialized advising, professional development programming, and networking opportunities throughout students’ academic journeys and beyond graduation.
Student JobsFinding a Student Job provides guidance and resources to help UT Austin students locate on-campus employment opportunities. The primary platform for student employment is the Workday Student Jobs Site, where undergraduate, graduate, academic, non-academic, and work-study positions are posted across the university. Students can also explore opportunities through 12twenty@Texas, departmental websites, job fairs, and direct inquiries with academic departments or campus units that hire student employees.
Office of Career & Life DesignThe Office of Career & Life Design supports UT Austin graduate students and postdoctoral scholars in exploring career paths and preparing for professional opportunities within and beyond academia. Graduate Student Campus JobsThe Graduate Student Campus Jobs Listserv is an opt-in email list that shares on-campus employment opportunities for UT Austin graduate students. The listserv distributes postings for positions such as Graduate Assistant, Graduate Research Assistant (GRA), Teaching Assistant (TA), and Assistant Instructor roles across the university. Disability & AccessDisability & Access (D&A) is UT Austin’s office for academic and campus-wide disability accommodations. Provides consultations, problem-solving, and information about disability rights and responsibilities.

WorkdayWorkday is UT Austin’s online system for managing employment information. Graduate students and postdocs can view and update personal and payroll information (address, direct deposit, tax forms). They can track appointments and compensation (TA/AI/GRA/postdoc roles). Access timesheets, pay slips, and benefits enrollment where available.
One StopTexas One Stop is UT Austin’s centralized hub for enrollment, financial aid, and   student records. Graduate students and postdocs can get help with registration, tuition and fee billing, and payment deadlines. They can navigate financial aid, scholarships, and refunds. In addition, they can access information on transcripts, enrollment verification, and graduation processes.
Graduate School Information for Current FellowsCurrent fellowship recipients should be knowledgeable of the stipulations, registration requirements, as well as information regarding tuition, fees, insurance and taxes.

Graduate Student AssemblyThe Graduate Student Assembly (GSA) is the official representative body for graduate students at UT Austin. The organization advocates for graduate student interests on issues related to academics, student welfare, and campus policy while promoting programs that support the academic, social, and professional lives of graduate students. GSA also facilitates communication between graduate students and university leadership and provides opportunities for students to participate in campus governance and advocacy initiatives.
Student OrganizationsStudent Outreach and Support (SOS), part of the Office of the Dean of Students, assists UT Austin students who are experiencing personal, academic, or emergency challenges that may affect their wellbeing or ability to succeed in their coursework. Through individualized consultation, staff provide support, intervention, and referrals to campus and community resources and may help coordinate services such as emergency funds, class absence notifications, and academic flexibility during difficult situations.
Neighborhood Longhorns

Neighborhood Longhorns is UT Austin’s community outreach and mentoring program for local K–8 students. Graduate students and postdocs can:

Counseling and Mental Health Center (CMHC)UT Austin’s CMHC supports the mental health and well being of students, including graduate students and postdocs. It offers short-term individual counseling, groups and workshops for stress, anxiety, depression, relationships and academic pressures, crisis support, referral services and care coordination for longer term or specialized treatment, online tools, self help resources and outreach programs tailored to graduate student concerns.
University Health ServicesUniversity Health Services is UT Austin’s on‑campus medical clinic. For graduate students and post‑docs, UHS provides: Primary and urgent medical care, routine checkups, and women’s and men’s health services. Immunizations, lab work, prescriptions, and travel health consultations. Health promotion resources to help you stay well while balancing research, teaching, and coursework.
Nurse Advice LineUT Austin’s Nurse Advice Line offers free, phone‑based medical guidance from registered nurses. Graduate students and post‑docs can call to: Ask whether symptoms need self‑care, an appointment, or urgent/emergency care. Get advice on managing common illnesses or injuries until they can be seen. Receive guidance after hours when University Health Services is closed.
Mind Body LabsUT Austin’s MindBody Labs are quiet spaces with self guided tools to help you manage stress and recharge. They offer: Short audio and video exercises for relaxation, mindfulness, breathing, and biofeedback. Comfortable rooms where you can practice coping skills between classes, labs, and writing sessions.
Crisis ResourcesUT Austin’s health and crisis services ensure you can get help quickly when you need it most. They provide: 24/7 crisis support for urgent mental health concerns.Guidance on what to do in a medical or psychological emergency and how to connect with on campus and community resources.
Behavior Concerns Advice Line If you are worried about someone’s behavior or safety on campus. Graduate students and post‑docs can call to: Consult about concerning, disruptive, or threatening behavior (your own or someone else’s). Learn what steps to take and which campus resources can respond.
Voice Against ViolenceVoices Against Violence provides confidential support, education, and advocacy for students who have experienced or are affected by relationship violence, sexual violence, or stalking. Graduate students and post‑docs can: Meet with counselors and advocates to discuss options and safety planning. Get help navigating medical, legal, and university reporting resources. Attend workshops and trainings on consent, healthy relationships, and bystander intervention.
HealthPoint WorkLife & WellnessHealthPoint WorkLife & Wellness promotes the well‑being of UT Austin employees, including benefits‑eligible graduate students and postdocs. It offers: Programs and resources on stress management, physical activity, nutrition, and work–life balance. Workshops, challenges, and online tools to help you maintain your health while juggling research, teaching, and family or personal commitments.
Life ServicesUT Austin’s Life Services (often through the Employee Assistance Program) supports personal and family well being for benefits eligible graduate students and postdocs. It offers: Confidential short term counseling and consultation. Referrals for legal, financial, childcare, eldercare, and other everyday life needs.
Counselors in Academic Residence (CARE)Counseling and Mental Health Center (CMHC) Care Services (CARE) provide mental health support for UT Austin students through assessment, referral, counseling, psychiatry, and well-being services. Students can access short-term individual counseling, group counseling, psychiatric evaluation, and specialized support programs to address academic, personal, or emotional challenges. The center also offers 24/7 support through crisis counseling and virtual mental health services, ensuring students can receive help when they need it.
Crisis ResourcesCMHC Crisis Resources provide immediate mental health support for UT Austin students who are experiencing emotional distress or a mental health crisis. Students can call the 24/7 CMHC Crisis Line (512-471-2255) to speak directly with a crisis counselor who can assess the situation, help stabilize emotions, and develop a plan for next steps or additional support. In emergencies where someone’s safety is at immediate risk, students are advised to call 911, and national crisis support is also available through the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline.

Child Development CenterThe Child Development Center provides high-quality, accredited early childhood education and care for children ages about 6 weeks to 5 years, primarily serving UT Austin students, faculty, staff and state employees. It offers developmentally appropriate learning programs across multiple Austin locations that nurture children’s social, emotional and cognitive growth while supporting families and the University community
Student Parent LiaisonThe Student Parent Liaison is a staff member in the Title IX Office who is responsible for providing current and incoming parenting students with information regarding supportive measures and other resources available to parenting students at the university.
Student Parent OrganizationStudent Parent Organization (SPO) is a registered UT Austin student organization that builds community for students who are raising children while attending the university. The group connects student parents with peer support, resources, and advocacy opportunities and hosts events and programming that support the needs of parenting students.
Lactation & Quiet RoomsUT Austin’s lactation and quiet rooms provide private, comfortable spaces on campus for rest and caregiving needs. They: Offer secure locations for breastfeeding or pumping, with seating and power outlets. Serve as low‑stimulus spaces for brief breaks, reflection, or decompression between classes, labs, and teaching.
Priority Registration InquiryStudents who are parents or legal guardians of children under 18 years of age are eligible to receive priority registration. This accommodation allows eligible UT Austin students to register for courses on the first day of course registration. Eligible students may receive priority registration by completing a registration accommodation form.

Title IX OfficeThe Title IX Office works to prevent and respond to sex discrimination, sexual harassment, sexual assault, interpersonal violence, stalking and discrimination related to pregnancy or parenting status at UT Austin. The office provides reporting options, supportive measures, resources and guidance to students, faculty and staff while helping the University maintain a campus environment free from sex-based discrimination.
SureWalkWalking & Sure Walk is a transportation resource that promotes walking as an easy and accessible way to travel across UT Austin’s pedestrian-friendly campus. The program also provides Sure Walk, a nighttime safety service where trained staff can walk with students or provide a complimentary cart or car ride within the service area to help them reach their destination safely.
LiveSafeLiveSafe at UT Austin is a free mobile safety app that connects students directly with the University of Texas Police Department (UTPD). The app allows users to text police dispatch, submit anonymous safety tips, share photos or videos of concerns, and use features like a virtual walk and emergency resources to help improve campus safety and response to incidents.
Night Owls RidesCapMetro Late-Night Services provide public transportation options in Austin after most regular bus routes stop running. The Night Owl buses operate from about midnight until 3 a.m., Monday through Saturday, connecting downtown areas such as 6th Street with neighborhoods across the city and running approximately every 20–30 minutes
UT Police DepartmentUT Austin Police Department (UTPD) supports graduate students and postdoctoral scholars through campus safety services, emergency response, wellness and victim-support resources, community policing initiatives, and programs designed to promote a safe and supportive campus environment.
Emergency ManagementThe UT Austin Office of Emergency Management serves as a campus safety and preparedness resource for graduate students and postdoctoral scholars by providing emergency alerts, preparedness guides, campus emergency plans, safety training, and critical incident information to help the university community stay informed and prepared.
BeVocalThe BeVOCAL program at UT Austin serves as a wellness and safety resource for graduate students and postdoctoral scholars by providing bystander intervention training, violence prevention education, workshops, and campus support resources that help create a safer, more supportive university community.

UT OutpostA free campus resource that helps students meet basic needs by providing access to groceries, toiletries and professional clothing through its food pantry and career closet. The program aims to reduce barriers to academic and professional success by supporting students experiencing food insecurity or financial strain.
Parking & TransportationParking and Transportation Services (PTS) manages parking and transportation systems at UT Austin, including campus parking garages, surface lots, permits, and transportation programs. The department also provides mobility options such as UT Shuttle buses, carpool and vanpool programs, bike resources, and connections to public transit, helping students, faculty, staff, and visitors travel to and around campus
Off-Campus LivingOff-Campus Living Resources provides guidance and tools to help UT Austin students find and navigate housing outside of university residence halls. The site includes an off-campus housing marketplace to search apartments, find roommates, or list subleases, along with resources on neighborhoods, housing types, safety, and tips for living off campus
On the MoovOn the Moov is a student-led initiative at the University of Texas at Austin that works to increase campus accessibility for disabled students through community support. The organization connects disabled students with trained student volunteers who assist with tasks such as navigating campus, walking between buildings, getting meals, or setting up living spaces. Through this peer-to-peer model, On the Moov promotes disability advocacy, accessibility, and community care on campus. 
Student Emergency ServicesStudent Emergency Services (SES) is a program within the Office of the Dean of Students that assists UT Austin students experiencing significant personal or family emergencies that may affect their academic progress. SES helps coordinate support for situations such as serious illness, family emergencies, or the death of a loved one and can provide guidance on options like absence notifications and referrals to campus resources. The service works with students, faculty, and staff to help students navigate difficult circumstances while remaining connected to academic and university support systems.
