Support for Outreach/Direct Contact

Contacting departments or faculty directly to ask if they have any unlisted opportunities that you may be qualified to fill. This approach takes:

  • professional email communication explaining what skills/background of yours pertain to that department or research initiative
  • a well-tailored resume
  • savvy use of the UT campus network/directory (intentional outreach with a message tailored to each recipient – do not copy one message to multiple parties).

The Office of Career & Life Design has networking resources available to help you with all of the above.
