Re-Engage: Professional Development for Graduate Students and Postdocs
Empower the Next Generation of Innovators
Welcome, Advanced Degree Alumni!
Are you eager to re-engage with UT Austin in a meaningful way? As advanced degree alumni, your story can help current graduate students and postdocs pursue their own future. The Office of Career and Life Design has a range opportunities to engage in the career development of our master’s, Ph.D. students and postdocs.
Ways to Get Involved
Join HookedIn
HookedIn is UT Austin’s exclusive alumni network. Meet fellow alumni, connect with current students, post jobs and reconnect with the UT Austin community. Tip: join with your LinkedIn account to seamlessly update your profile on both platforms.
Share Career Advice
Share your industry and academic experiences by participating as a speaker in one of our career panels or by leading a workshop. Graduate students are often interested in learning about the transition from academia to industry, or about the unique nuances, skills development and resources that can help them prepare for different industries. Your insights can provide pivotal guidance as they navigate their professional journeys. Email us at gradcareer@austin.utexas.edu.
Attend Alumni Networking Events
Mingle with fellow advanced degree alumni and current graduate students at our dynamic networking events. These gatherings are ideal for forging connections and fostering professional relationships.
Tell Your Career Story in Our Alumni@Work Series
We aren’t only interested in your success, but also what barriers you faced, moments of failure and how your graduate program influenced your current career pursuit. Our office takes a holistic approach to helping students think about their future, and we are interested in conducting a 30-minute interview with you, that is recorded and shared with our students and scholars.
Host a Doctoral Student in the PhD Career Pathways Program
The PhD Pathways program is a 9-month internship program for doctoral students in the humanities and social sciences to gain experience in non-academic settings. Learn more about the program here on the website linked above.
Engage with CONNECT Fellows
CONNECT helps organizations tackle data, evaluation or measurement challenges with a graduate student consultant.
Hire a Graduate Student or Postdoc
Post your full time, internship or postdoctoral training positions in the UT hiring platform. If you are interested in expanding your engagement on campus with one or more colleges or schools, we are happy to help you host an information session, design a multidisciplinary competition or host students on site your at your organization.
