Molin Li is a first-year master’s student in Economics at The University of Texas at Austin. His research interests include macroeconomics, monetary policy and industrial organization theory. His research examines how monetary policy affects housing demand in cities experiencing population decline, with a particular focus on why interest rate cuts may fail to encourage home purchases. He has also studied the factors shaping young adults’ house-buying intentions in China.
Molin had experience in investment banking and at a trust company and served as president of the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Association during his undergraduate studies. These experiences have provided perspectives on both the financial industry and student leadership.
Molin speaks English and Mandarin. Outside of academics and work, he enjoys playing soccer and Counter-Strike.
