Luke Bishop is a PhD candidate in Iberian and Latin American Linguistics at The University of Texas at Austin, specializing in sociolinguistics, language policy, and multilingualism, with a focus on speakers of minoritized languages in Spain and Mexico. He has conducted extensive qualitative fieldwork in Galicia, Spain, as a Fulbright Scholar and contributed to minority language promotion initiatives through the U.S. Embassy in Madrid.
In 2025-2026, he will serve as an Advanced Degree Workforce Research Consultant for UT's Office of Career and Life Design, where he will conduct an industry and workforce landscape analysis of employment trends and emerging opportunities for UT PhD alumni. He aims to build a career at the intersection of research, policy and international collaboration, advancing initiatives in language, education and workforce development. Outside of his academic and professional work, he is an avid marathon runner, reader and National Parks enthusiast.
