Knowledge Grey Moyo is a PhD candidate in the Department of History at The University of Texas at Austin, specializing in African history and the history of medicine, science and technology. His dissertation examines the socio-cultural and medical history of blood in Zimbabwe from the precolonial era to the present. By treating blood as both a biological substance and a social, spiritual and political idea, his research illuminates the intersections of African healing knowledge, colonial medicine, kinship, technology, public health and state power. His broader interests include Southern Africa, HIV/AIDS, blood transfusion, medical humanities, global health and diplomacy. He has extensive public service experience, directing research projects and translating complex findings into policy recommendations for government institutions, international organizations and public audiences. His professional goal is to build a career connecting historical scholarship and university teaching with public-sector research, international programming and policy engagement.
