Mary Christine Wheatley, Ph.D.

Mary Christine Wheatley received her Ph.D. in Sociology from The University of Texas at Austin in 2017. She is currently the Executive Director at New-Age Environmental Development of Africa (NED Africa), an innovative social enterprise advancing market-driven initiatives for sustainable development, environmental conservation, and climate change adaptation and mitigation in Ghana, Togo and Benin. 

Her work empowers underserved communities by establishing profitable businesses that utilize renewable energy technologies and sustainable practices, with projects like biogas and biochar production for household use, a tractor rental program, nutrition-enhancing catfish farming and credit-based animal husbandry. Her strategic efforts target youth, women and small-scale farmers, driving improvements in food security, community health and economic prosperity.
