Sharing your research effectively requires delivering a clear message in an engaging way. In this session, participants will build storytelling skills by applying techniques based on narrative, neuroscience and presentations from TED Talks. Participants will also gain insights into designing simple yet impactful visuals that complement verbal communication. This session is delivered as interactive, experiential learning with practice and feedback with experts and peers.

By the end of the session, participants will:

  • Outline a brief research talk
  • Identify your message and desired impact
  • Select storytelling elements to use in your talk (e.g., curiosity, novelty, hooks, analogies)
  • Explore the role of visuals in enhancing the clarity and impact of a talk

Snacks will be provided. Please email Loren Cressler at loren.cressler@austin.utexas.edu  if you need accommodations or have questions about this event. We strive to make all our events welcoming and if there are ways we can improve your experience, please let us know.
